Laser systems for cleaning applications |
|
Working Group 1 is composed of representatives of 41 Institutions in 20 COST Countries. The members have several backgrounds: (i) Physicists, Chemists, Biologists and Engineers performing fundamental and applied research on laser cleaning systems and laser-matter interactions on diverse substrates: paper, parchment, stone, canvas and mural paintings, glass, ceramics and metals; (ii) Conservation scientist & Conservators specialized in the pre-quated materials; (iii) Laser Manufacture & Equipment companies.
Up to now the WG 1 members have agreed to undertake four specific tasks: 1.
Gather
bibliografical references on
artworks cleaning, to be part of an input in the general litterature data
base of the COST G7 project. 2. Collect information about all laser cleaning
systems for conservation in 3.
Contribute to the general task “demand for new research in the field of
artwork conservation by laser”. 4.
Establish
users guidelines for laser
cleaning. Foreseen guidelines include recommendations on the way to
perform and to report on laser cleaning, on the methods available
to examine laser impacts on artifacts, and on safety issues. |
